Hoya

Overview.

In 1345, Hoya, a County in the Holy Roman Empire, was divided between two brothers into the Upper County and Lower County.

In 1497 the branch of the Lower Hoya became extinct and its possessions passed to the branch of the Upper Hoya.

In 1582, the House of Hoya became extinct in the male line, and its possessions passed to the Dukes of Brunswick.

Overview.

The Counts of Bruchhausen, who descended from the Counts of Oldenburg, were divided into the branches of Altbruchhausen and Neubruchhausen.

In 1338, the Counts of Hoya bought the County of Altbruchhausen.
